The story
In March 2023, I was a 19-year-old soccer player at Ave Maria University. Then a car accident left me paralyzed from the waist down.
First came the anxiety. Then came a peace I still can’t explain.
The doctor told me I would never walk again. I asked her for 1%. She said no. I told her, “Well, I believe in miracles.”
Today I’m married, I have a family of my own, I walked down the aisle on my wedding day, and I’ve walked a 5K.
Where that peace came from is the story I tell on stage.

The full story: the accident, the peace that made no sense, the doctor who said “never,” the walk down the aisle and the 5K finish line. What becomes possible in the moment you think everything is over.
We spend our lives replaying the past and worrying about the future. AJ learned, one step at a time, that the present moment is the only place life actually happens. A practical, honest talk on finding peace and purpose right where you are.
Why would anyone call suffering a gift? AJ shares how pain, united with Christ, became the path to a deeper faith and a joy he never had before. For anyone who feels alone, bitter or angry at God in the middle of their own cross.
AJ didn’t get back on his feet alone. Doctors, therapists, family, friends and strangers carried him. A talk on belonging, showing up for each other, and building teams and cultures where no one has to carry their hardest moments by themselves.
What they say
“Over 2,000 people attended our Hope for Life Conference in 2025. They were beyond blessed and inspired by AJ De La Rosa’s testimony of faith, resilience and unshakeable hope in the midst of his tragic accident. AJ is a remarkable inspiration, not only by the way he delivers his story and the messages of faith and hope, but most of all, the way he lives and radiates what he believes and what he speaks.”
“Before hearing AJ, many teens and young adults feel alone in their suffering and unsure how to make sense of it. They might even become bitter and angry at God. But AJ guides them through that. With humility and a depth that only comes from suffering, he shares his story in a way that helps young people see their pain as a catalyst for growth and intimacy with God. He doesn’t just teach, he inspires. He genuinely cares. If you want someone who can meet your teens and young adults where they are and help them find hope, AJ is the speaker you’re looking for.”
